Who are you? Snapchat filters, the facade of your socials, and snail-paced texting conversations are just a few tools you have to slowly re-craft and present to others the person you want to be. But are you loved for who you really are?
At Helena Chi Alpha, we believe God made no mistake in creating you as a person. Our hope is that anyone who joins our community would discover the value and belonging of being loved by God and others. That is why the most important thing that we do is Small Group.
A Small Group is a community of 5-10 men or women seeking God together through Bible study, fellowship, and living life together. Love for one another is the distinguishing mark of Christian community. This kind of love for God and others isn’t forged in casual church attendance or a yearly summer camp high, but in the weekly living out of your faith within a committed community.
Small groups are for the hungry disciple who longs to grow in their faith, the beginner who wants to seek God for the first time, or even the skeptic who wants to learn a little about the Biblical God while making life-long friends along the way.
When I first got involved in a small group, I didn’t know how important it would be for my faith! It brought me so close to other girls, taught me the basics of walking with Jesus, and led me to being closer to God than I ever have before! Now I lead a small group and have the privilege to go through the hard questions of life and discover what it means to really know God. We can’t do it alone, and I’m so thankful I’ve had a community to love me unconditionally.
Small groups have helped me grow bolder in my faith and much deeper in my relationship with God. They have given me confidence and have definitely helped me stay out of trouble. Small groups have also helped me keep myself accountable and true to myself and promises.
Small groups were so important for my faith in college. They helped me get and stay connected to good Christian community: I met dudes to encourage me and keep me accountable to pursue Jesus. They were also important in my own discipleship and allowed me to take hold of responsibility beyond myself as I was eventually able to lead my own small group and help direct other young men closer to Jesus.
When I was a freshman, I joined a small group that was focused on loving others by serving and living life together. I gained friends who taught me how to be vulnerable and supported me while I was struggling with my sin. I was able to find freedom from sin through small group because they were praying for me and fighting for me. It led me out of darkness and into the light of Jesus.
